Scope of Practice

Your story is unique - it is yours - and it deserves to be heard. It is my belief that we are made up of that which is ours to own as well as that which others have impressed upon us. I specialize in the following: • Adolescents – teens and their parental units, group work • Relationships – assertiveness, boundary setting, self-trust • End-of-Life – grief/loss/death processing for both patients and their support I have experience with the following: • Co-occurring Disorders – mood disorders coupled with addiction struggles • Body-Image – disordered eating, self-esteem, addiction, coping skills • Mood Disorders – depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, self-harm • Trauma – emotional/physical/sexual abuse, loss, life transitions, vicarious job trauma • Mandated clients – incarcerated/probation/paroled youth and adults • Group Curriculum – creation and implementation of process/content group curriculum

Values and Philosophy

Therapy works best in a safe, comfortable environment where you can be 100% authentic. I start with being authentic, myself, and provide a comfortable environment devoid of judgment and rich in compassion. I believe in being blunt at times and straightforward in my approach with my clients (sarcasm and humor are tools I tend to utilize); however, I also believe that climbing into that dark space with you and seeing the world through your eyes is paramount to successful therapy. Therapy is a journey. The journey can be messy - real messy - however, I'd argue that right before any substantial, worthwhile change, there tends to be discomfort and awkward fumbling before the dust settles into a newly adjusted/healed reality.

Therapeutic Technique and Methodology

Amongst professionals, I identify as an eclectic/integrative therapist culminating in existential/humanistic therapy, dialectic behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, gestalt therapy, and systems theory. Those are all big words which generally mean, I meet my clients where they are and address their therapy goals on an individual level.
