Scope of Practice

I help individuals & couples overcome challenges, learn more skillful patterns of living, and heal relationships. I work with your feelings, thoughts, body, spirit -- the complete You -- to help you heal and grow. I help adults to overcome depression, anxiety, childhood trauma, and relationship challenges. I work with all couples: engaged couples, loving couples wanting to deepen their love, struggling couples wanting to save their relationships, and divorcing couples. I am also a certified and nationally recognized Medical Family Therapist, with over 12 years of intensive training and experience working with individuals and families struggling with medical issues. My work is based in the latest psychological and medical research, and I am trained and experienced in a variety of therapeutic models: this allows me to craft our work together to meet your needs and personality. Especially for couples: I don't blame, shame, or take sides when I work with couples -- I help you & your partner identify unhealthy patterns and change them permanently. I work with communication and conflict problems, deep hurts and betrayals, infidelity, life challenges and transitions, and problems with emotional and sexual intimacy. I am one of a few therapists in Washington who is certified in Discernment Counseling, a short (one to five sessions), intensive technique for couples on the brink of breaking up. Going through the Discernment process gives couples clarity and confidence on how to proceed with next steps regarding their relationship: for those couples who choose to stay together, they have a better chance of healing and growing their relationship. And for those who proceed to divorce, there is less anger and a greater understanding of what actually went wrong, a better ability to co parent, and the potential of enhanced future relationships. A form of Discernment is also available for individuals. I am sensitive to the unique issues faced by individuals and couples of various ethnicities and cultures, including international couples. I am familiar with tech industry and professional culture and lifestyles. I am LGBT friendly.
